Cooperation between Latvia and Russia in the field of science and virotherapy

On June 17th, 2014 Latvia was visited by the famous Russian scientist, Director of the Research Institute of Oncology at the Bashkortostan State Medical University, Chairman of the Public Chamber of the Republic of Bashkortostan, professor Shamil Gantsev. It was his first foreign visit after the new convocation of Public Chamber, indicating that Russia is interested in cooperation with Latvia in the field of healthcare and medicine. During his visit professor Gantsev met with the President of the Latvian Academy of Sciences, academician Ojars Sparitis and chief oncologist of Latvia, head of scientific department in the Riga Eastern Clinical University Hospital, prof. Dace Baltina. The parties discussed possibilities of cooperation in the field of science and innovation, plans for joint projects between Latvia and Russia in the field of virotherapy.
