3rd Virotherapy conference

On 11th December, 2014 the Latvian Virotherapy Center organized 3rd Virotherapy Conference, and this year it was dedicated to virotherapy development in the world and its practical application. Early in the morning in the Portrait Hall of the Latvian Academy of sciences gathered together more than 100 participants of the conference.

Conference was opened by Director of the Institute of Organic Synthesis, academician Ivars Kalvinsh who presented the virotherapy development in the world and Latvia, world experience in applying viruses in oncology, and the latest Latvian achievements in this field.

Well-known Latvian scientists, oncologists and virotherapists presented reports about Rigvir scientific, clinical and preclinical studies, the development of virotherapy industry in recent years, and the observation of practical application of the virotherapy.

Presentations of prof. Simona Donina, prof. Ingrida Chema and Dr. Romualds Erdmanis, who looked at specific examples of patient treatment and the latest statistics on the incidence of melanoma in Latvia, caused a great interest among participants.

This conference, which has now become a tradition, has proved to be an event which brings together open-minded doctors who want to gain knowledge about new and effective methods for the treatment of cancer.
